Not Your Ordinary C.P.A. Office Either It is SO nice to have a real person answering the phones at Michael A Gordon, CPA’s office.  The phone calls are answered promptly, no 10-20 rings before you get a canned message with an option menu to wade through.  Whenever we call there is a pleasant and often times happy voice on the other end to answer our questions.  Probably many of our questions are the same ones asked 50 times that day and she still is genuinely interested in helping us and getting our questions directed to the right person. Prompt responses to our questions.  Even if the person doesn’t have the answer off the top of her/his head they will call and say they will do some research and will get back to us when they have the answer.  When they do answer the question we feel very confident the answer is correct and the advice is the best for our particular situation. Everyone you meet in the office seems happy to be working there.  There is no “not my job” attitudes or negativity or hostility in the air. ( We love Tammie’s laugh) Lots of communication.  Never ever have we had so much mail, reminders and enticements to stay informed about our tax and business situation.  Mike makes every effort to keep us up to speed on the ever changing laws and regulations. Customer appreciation parties and gifts.  These make all of us feel like we are an important part of this business and the food (Thanks to Rhoda) is amazing.  My husband also really appreciated the candy ALWAYS available at the front desk.

Well….the key word here is “SERVICE”!  That’s how it all began.  Back in the early ‘90’s, Mike Gordon “trips” into town, stopping in our print shop because we apparently displayed some mutual appreciation for MAC computers.  Somewhere in conversation with my husband and I, he says… “I’m new in town, I’ve got some free time for a short while and I’d like to use it to help out some small businesses like yourselves.  What can I do to help your company in the area of accounting?”  Well….you don’t have to slap me on the side of the head too many times to get me to recognize that most accountants wouldn’t make such and offer, so I turned our “books” over to him that year.   It didn’t take long to discover that his services HAD to be budgeted into our financial picture.  Integrity dictated that, because of the quality of his expertise, the “bottom line” amount of our tax bills, and his genuine care to make our business successful, his services could no longer remain “free”. Almost 20 years have passed since Mike developed his own business to its current status of qualified staff.  We have been through a number of business changes ourselves but have learned to “expect” the continuation of quality and expertise in his firm’s services.  His standard is keen on knowledge, accuracy, integrity, and professionalism……and we are always greeted with a laughing smile or voice, making us feel like they are really THRILLED to have us call or stop in with a question. Now, Mike has never been…and will never be your ordinary “bean counter”, but that’s what I mean about him…..it’s STILL all about SERVICE.  They do it very well…..and that’s why we keep coming back to them!!

Michael A Gordon, CPA, has done my business and personal tax preparation for the past 15 tax seasons.  He does the most important thing well, that is, well informed, accurate tax preparation and advice for a reasonable cost (I mean, come on, if he can’t get it right, or if I can’t afford it, then what’s the point!?)  Mike keeps himself up to date on tax law, and passes that information and his advice along to his clients via monthly newsletters and personal consultation.  During tax season the deadlines and time frames are accurate and workable.  The rest of the year he and his staff are available with friendly accurate advice.  But it doesn’t stop there….. Michael A Gordon, CPA is much more than quality work and a fair price, it’s like a family.  Let me tell you about my personal experiences.  First of all Mike understands the importance of good food!  And his wife Rhoda is a world class baker who knows how to deliver (Yum!  Thanks Rhoda!)  Tammy has been a happy voice on the phone and a smile in the office since the very beginning.  I know when I talk to her that I will be treated well and not forgotten…and she knows how to laugh at things.  (She is also a wealth of information and help, I shouldn’t forget that part.)  Susan, who has worked on my returns for the past several years, is such a meticulous person.  She drives me nuts every year with phone calls double checking information and suggesting money saving strategies.  (Of course I’m just kidding about being driven nuts, last year one of those calls resulted in about $800.00 in free money courtesy of Uncle Sam!)  All the rest of the office staff are great to work with also!
